National Youth Council Kachia Local Government Chapter, has decried what it described as the ongoing massacre of hundreds of innocent people of Kachia and its surrounding  villages, which they said, has taken a dangerous dimension, driving it to a maniacal scale unseen in recent times.

This was expressed in a statement signed by its Secretary, Hassan Usman Garba, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday May 8, 2024.

“Most unfortunate is the fact that the carnage and mayhem hardly get mentioned by the mainstream media.

“The government and security outfits have conspicuously lost their voices while  precious lives are lost and properties worth hundreds of millions are lost during these banal massacre,” the group said.

According to the statement titled, “THE GENOCIDAL INTENTIONS AGAINST THE POPULATION OF KACHIA:WE CALL FOR GOVERNMENT ATTENTION NOW” the group alleged that Kachia is surrounded by bandits and other criminal elements.

“It is no longer news or undeniable that kachia and its surrounding neighborhoods have come under the clutches of bandits, terrorists and various categories of criminal gangs sacking entire villages and moderate towns, burning, ransacking, rustling cattle and abducting women and children into  the forest.

“As it stands today, Kachia has become the most bandits infested local government area in Kaduna State.

” In a gory example of some of the infamy against the people by these bandits who are now operating freely and with renewed vigour, the following communities have been subjected to unprecedented series of coordinated attacks and carnage recently.

“The communities of Impi, Mai ido, Rumadu, Kabode, Goran Gabas, Mothercat and Ibika have been sacked and overran by these bandits and kidnappers who have practically taken over the communities, killing people and destroying properties with brutal regularity. Yet government and the security agencies continue playing the ostrich,” the group said.

They alleged that last week during during Sunday service in the village of Yaji, Christians were attacked with many suffering various degrees of injuries.

“At Hayin Mothercat, 80% of the population has ran away from their homes to neighboring communities for fear of being attacked and in Ibika community, during a celebration, the people were brutally attacked and three people were killed while almost fifteen people were kidnapped, including women and underaged children.

“Up to the time of filing of this press release, no efforts have been made to rescue them or identify where they are taken to not to talk of rescuing them. In Goran Gabas, one Alhaji Ali Maharbi was attacked, his son brutally murdered in cold blood right in front of his eyes and his properties and cows were destroyed and rustled.

“In the same village of Goran Gabas,  one Sani Abdullahi Agebu was also attacked and his cattle was rustled. It is most unfortunate to know that the Junction of Awon, to the road leading to Awon  town are the most dangerous places around that axis.

“We are calling on the government, community heads and security agencies to come to our aid before we all perish in the hands of these evil enterprise whose sole motive is to kill and spill innocent blood.

“The immediate consequences of all these are that businesses and daily legitimate enterprises have been tremendously affected with over 70% closing shop and relocating to a more peaceful cities leaving poverty and fear to take hold.

“The people of  Kachia and its neighbors will not keep silent or remain passive when our very essence of existence is threatened,” the group said.
