NUJ Lagos Council Chairman Heads News Agency Of Nigeria

Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),  Lagos State Council has become the Head of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos office.

The information was released by the Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council on Friday.

In a statement signed by Comrade Philip Nwosu, Vice Chairman and Comrade Tunde Olalere, Secretary of the NUJ Lagos Council, the union said that Ajayi emerged the Head of NAN Lagos office as a result of his professionalism.

“The news is not surprising to us and many others because Ajayi has distinguished himself as a versatile and hardworking personality.

“He is a man who has paid his dues in journalism with top notch international exposure.

“The former President of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has a track record of success, which he extended to Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, where he is doing Lagos Journalists proud,” the Council narrated in the statement titled: “NUJ Felicitates Ajayi As Head of NAN, Lagos Office.”

The council expressed hope that Ajayi will make a difference in the leadership of the News Agency of Nigeria.  “No doubt, interesting times await staff members of NAN Lagos, as the man at the helm of affairs is a thorough bred professional, who will go any length to get the job done,” the Council stressed.

Members of NUJ Lagos State Council said that they are hopeful that the experience Ajayi has gathered over the years, laced with his exposure and contacts, will further make NAN the envy of others, under a visionary leader that prioritises staff welfare.

“We have no reservation about his emergence, while wishing him a successful tenure of office,” Nwosu and Olalere declared.
