The increasing rate at which culprits of same sex relationship escape prosecution in the country is becoming alarming and reaching a dangerous crescendo as most of them engrossed in the nefarious acts are absconding and jumping police bail to avoid prosecution in the Courts.
The fear of prosecution and shame of social stigmatisation. in the community where they habitate are major factors for their abscondment.
Outcome of investigations by our reporter through discreet investigation into the nefarious acts at some police stations in the country, reveals that the efforts by the law enforcement agents to prosecute cases is becoming elusive.
A 24 years old boy , Gabriel Oluwasegun Ajenifuja who was arrested in September 2017 at a Club in Abeokuta, Ogun State while participating in amorous affairs with other male friends and granted Police bail before disappearing into thin air after the case was charged to a Magistrate Court confessed to have enjoyed a thriving same sex relationship after he discovered his sexuality among his peer groups.
Another culprit, Abdulazeez Adetunji ltanola, son of a retired police officer arrested in July 2021at a gay party in Lekki Peninsula area of Lagos State is today being sought for as efforts to make him face prosecution has remained elusive as he has since jumped bail.
In Onitsha, Anambra State, one Okide lfechukwu Kosisochukwu was nabbed at a Christmas gay party held in December 2022 at a Night Club and was bailed by his father. He has since absconded.
The search for the whereabouts of these culprits by the relevant authorities has not yielded any positive results and does not help prosecution of the cases.
