The internal leadership crisis rocking the ruling All Progress Congress (APC) Benue State Chapter seems to be gradually fading out as Justice Maurice Ikpambese of Benue State High Court has set aside an earlier court injunction restraining Mr Austin Agada from parading as the state chairman.
Celebrating the judgment by Justice Ikpambese who is also the Chief Judge of Benue State, the embattled Chairman, Agada in a press conference in Makurdi said on Monday, February 12, 2024, Justice Ikpambese halted clandestine moves to create confusion in the party.
According to Agada, “It is expedient for me to brief the teeming members of our party and the public in general concerning the state of affairs of our party, the APC in Benue State. The past few weeks have witnessed feverish but unnecessary clandestine plots for the soul of the leadership of the APC in Benue State.”
APC he said, is deeply rooted in unalloyed respect for the rule of law, “I do not intend to use this platform as a narrative to tell the orchestrated chain of events that has taken us down this unnecessary route. I only wish to assert that the APC under my leadership in Benue State is forging ahead on an irreversible train of service delivery to our people and I call on all and sundry not to be left behind.”
The chairman who was received by good numbers of the party supporters commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume for his unparalleled devotion to the good fortunes of APC and the realization of the renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government.
While appreciating the governor, Rev Fr Alia, he called for synergy amongst all party members and those in public offices to collectively deliver APC’s campaign promises to the long suffering people of Benue State.
“By the same token I want to extend an olive branch to our party members, leaders and public office holders who vociferously campaigned for candidates of other parties against our party’s candidate”.
Speaking further, he said, “I want to remind them that the APC is the Special Purpose Vehicles that they used to get into public office and it would not bode well if as passengers they do everything possible to knock its engine and when this fails, desperately seek to siphon it of the fuel necessary for its locomotion.”
He equally expressed gratitude to party faithful and Benue citizens who recently trooped out en masse to vote for APC candidate in the just concluded re-run election for Guma 1 State Constituency, “I thank all our party stakeholders, who, against all odds and overwhelming resources at the disposal of our political opponents stood firm and saw our party to victory”.
