The National Coordinator, Federal Workers Forum (FWF) Comrade Andrew Emelieze on Thursday urged the Directorate of State Security Service, (DSS) to stop intimating labour on the planned two days protest by Labour unions in the country from Tuesday.

Comrade Emelieze in a statement made available to journalists,  cautioned the DSS to desist from, “undemocratic, unconstitutional and primitive position of always trying to coerce the the citizenry.”

According to the FWF National Coordinator, ” The DSS should note that they are beneficiaries of tax payers money, protest is natural, constitutional and equally a fundamental human right.

“Farmers all over Europe are protesting, there have been pockets of citizenry protest against hardship nationwide, the case of labour in Nigeria cannot be different. The DSS should stop intimating labour, the position of the DSS is insulting the sensitivity of the Nigerian people”, he said.

Comrade Emelieze added ” Enough of this hypocrisy, the DSS is called upon to face the living condition crisis challenge confronting It’s rank and file. The DSS should be a people’s security outfit and we expect to see civility emanating from the DSS.”

“The DSS is called upon to stop expressing bitterness and hate towards labour and the Nigerian people. The era of intimation has gone, our people are more aware and the Nigerian people can even call for the liquidation of the DSS as done by the #EndSars movement ,so stop this unnecessary and unwarranted attack on labour.

” The nascent call for protest is popular, constitutional and legal.

What we expect from the DSS s to ensure that the protest in peaceful rather than trying to blackmail labour. Our people are suffering, the DSS is not in a position to stop our people from crying out”.

The FWF then advised the NLC and TUC to settle their differences and speak with one voice, saying it will be wrong for the TUC President Tommy Etim Okon to speak on behalf of workers, saying “his address against the planned two days protest is illegitimate and a sabotage against the working people of Nigeria..

According to Comrade Emelieze, “The Nigerian workers are fully ready for the two days protest. On our part as federal workers, we shall ensure that all federal government secretariat nation wide are totally shut down.

” Etim cannot speak on behalf of workers. His address against the planned two days protest is illegitimate and a sabotage against the working people of Nigeria. Etim is talking to himself, he is on his own,” he said.
