Niger Delta Youth have called on people of Rivers State not to get involved in any protest in the name of economic hardship, saying mass demonstration not the solution to current economic challenges experienced across the country.
The youth In a statement under the umbrella of Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria (NDYCN) carpeted individuals and organizations calling for mass protests, stating that mutual and effective engagements would serve the interest of the masses better.
The statement signed by the President comrade Ufuoma Victor Erharhine maintained that mass protest would be hijacked by unscrupulous elements to unleash mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public.
Erharhine commended the Police Commissioner, CP Olatunji Disu of Rivers State for doing a good job since assumption of duty.
Comrade Erharhine, went further to say that, since the coming of the Commissioner of Police to the state there’s a lot of improvement in terms crime rate in the River State.
“CP Dusi has always indulged in engaging the youth in the state by advising them that crime does not pay, rather they should stay away from criminal activities.
“It is our collective submission that our youth in the entire Niger Delta should not engage in any form of protest in the face of the current challenges.
“Protest will only add to our travails in Rivers State and make the good job of ensuring peace by the state governor and other security agencies especially the commissioner of police difficult.
“We enjoin our youth to engage the authorities in the state and beyond to finding ways of ameliorating the suffering of the people, “the statement urged.
