*PDP ‘ll soon be only party in Oke-Ogun with Peller joining us – Gov Makinde

former House of Representatives member that represented Iseyin/ Itesiwaju /Kajola Federal constituency, Hon. Shina Peller on Thursday, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Accord
Speaking in Iseyin while defecting with over 5,000 members of the Accord party in the Oyo North Senatorial district of the state, Hon Peller said the most important interest to protect in politics is the people’s interest.
The former lawmaker emphasized that his decision to defect into the PDP with his supporters was as a result of the sterling performances of the Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
” Our decision for this is hinged on the good performance of this present administration of governor Seyi Makinde. As you know politics is always by interest either it is your personal interest which is never for me, or it is for your people’s interest or for religious interest”, he said .
Hon Peller added, ” But I think the most important interest to protect in politics is the people’s interest, and when we say the people, we mean the majority of the people because this is democracy, which is government of the people ,made of the people and for the people.
“Today, I can say am speaking the pulse of the people of Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North and Orire which constitute Oyo North senatorial district.”
Receiving Hon Peller and his supporters into the PDP, Governor Seyi Makinde declared that PDP will soon be the only party in Oke-Ogun and Oyo State in general with the defection of former House of Representatives member, Hon. Shina Peller from Accord Party into the party
Represented by his deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, in Iseyin to receive Hon Peller into the PDP, Gov Makinde declared that progressive without power is zero, adding that Shina Peller is defecting into the party because of rapid development of Oke-Ogun zone and entire Oyo state under the Makinde led administration.
He stressed that since the inception of Gov Seyi Makinde’s administration, Oke-ogun has witnessed massive development.saying, ” The zone is expected to become a one party system under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde following the defection of Shina Peller from Accord party”.
“I also took a similar journey like Shina Peller before joining the Peoples Democratic Party. So, on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, let give support to all the defectors, for our party to progress. We all have a lot to benefit from this party”, he said
Gov Makinde added “We are very confident that our party, PDP, will win the forthcoming local government election overwhelmingly with this unity as well as the developmental strides of His Excellency across the Oke-ogun zone”.
The governor then assured them of equal treatment and a level playing field in the Party.
