3-yr Old Dies, Million Naira Property Consumed In Lagos Inferno

It was a sad weekend in Ejigbo area of Lagos as a 3- year old and property estimated at several millions of Naira perished in a fire accident that occurred in the area.

The inferno, according to reports, broke out at No 5. Olorunsogo Street, Ejigbo at about 11.10pm on Saturday, where the boy got burnt completely.

Our correspondent gathered that the fire was caused by a lit candle, which melted in the building containing 10 rooms.

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin while confirming the incident said the fire was put out by a team of firefighters.

He disclosed that the corpse of the deceased was taken away by men of the Lagos State Ambulance service, while the area is being monitored and put under control by police operatives.

 “It was reported that the fire was caused by a candle that was lit which later melted in one of the rooms. 

” The room caught fire and it spread to the other 10 rooms in the compound. as a result of the fire, One child named Micheal ‘M’ 3 years old son of one Ayo ‘M’ got burnt completely.

 ” Also properties worth millions got burnt in the inferno. a combined team of police officers from the division, fire fighters and lagos state ambulance services visited the scene and the fire was later put out by the firefighters.

” The remains of the boy were taken away by the Lagos Ambulance Service. The area is being monitored while situation is under control. Investigation is ongoing.”
