MAAUN Group of Universities has congratulated the wife of the former Head of State, Hajia Maryam Sani Abacha on the occasion of her 77th birthday.
The congratulatory message was contained in statement by the founder of the universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and made available to newsmen in Kano yesterday.
Prof. Gwarzo also congratulated the former President of Nigeria Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA) on the milestone, extolling her commitment to the welfare of women and children especially the vulnerable.
“The former First Lady, Maryam Abacha founded National Hospital Abuja (formerly National Hospital For Women And Children) and the African First Ladies gPeace Mission.
“It was through the National Hospital for Women and Children, which was turned to the National Hospital, Abuja, she was able to reach out to the poor and the less-privileged through the provision of quality healthcare by the hospital,” he said.
While wishing Mrs Abacha many more prosperous years in good health, Prof. Gwarzo prayed to Almighty Allah to continue to shower His blessings on her and her family.
“On behalf of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger and Nigeria, I wish to felicitate the celebrant, her family and friends on the auspicious occasion of her 77th birthday.
“We want to put it on record that your initiative and leadership style has impacted many lives across the country, especially wives of military officers, girl-child, rural women and children when you held sway as the NAOWA president,” Prof. Gwarzo said.
He also applauded the former first lady for inspiring the African First Ladies Peace Mission, National Programme on Immunization and Family Support Program among other laudable programs.
Prof. Gwarzo prayed for a longer life and the wellbeing of Mrs Abacha and all her family members.
