*Orders impounding cars without number plates

Following the series of attacks by unidentified gunmen in Ebonyi State, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has banned the use of tinted glass vehicles and use of sirens and also prohibited cars without number plates in order to tackle the insurgence.
The governor ordered law enforcement agencies in the state to apprehend law offenders and impound their vehicles and such can only be released through a clearance from his office.
This was contained in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, few hours after the killing of police officers and civilians by unidentified gunmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
The statement reads in parts: “Based on his determination to secure the lives and property of residents, Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has issued the following directives:
“Nobody no matter how highly placed, is authorized to use tinted glasses and siren in any part of the state.
`It has also become a grievous offence for anybody in any part of the state to use vehicles without number plates and licences.
“Accordingly, law enforcement agencies have been directed to apprehend offenders and impound their vehicles. Such offender(s) must be properly interrogated and such vehicles can only be released with clearance from the Office of the Governor.
“Residents of the State and the general public are advised to adhere strictly to these directives.”
