Intl Women’s Day: Yobe Women Seek More Inclusion For Development

As the globe commemorates World International Women’s day, Women in Yobe State have commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for carrying them along, however sought for more inclusion of women for nation building.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Yajalo Badama discussed this at the commemoration with support from UN Women in Damaturu the Yobe State capital.

She believes when women are carried along, more development would be witnessed especially in the healthcare, education among other sectors that women are more relevant.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Director Women Affairs, Hajiya Fatima Hassan Yusuf described the day as significant in the life of every woman.  She called on women to rally round the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni in ensuring women are empowered.

The Focal Person, UN Women, Fatima Paga in her remarks, outlined some achievements of the government under women led leadership.  

She congratulated and urged them to work towards the development of the country to brighten the future of their children.

The commemoration with the theme, “Accelerating equality through economic empowerment” was attended by different women groups across the state.
