Gov Uba Sani Targets 200 Communities For Micro Projects Within 40 Days


*Targets 7 communities per LGA

The Kaduna State Government has commenced intervention of micro projects in 200 communities across the 23 local government Areas (LGAs) in the State.

The projects which will cover infrastructures in Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health and Education, according to the Manager, Kaduna State Community and Social Development Agency (KADCSDA), Dr. Muhammed Mu’azu Mukaddas, will be carried out in at least seven communities per LGA.

He disclosed that Governor Uba Sani, has earmarked over N1.7b for the effective take off of the first phase of the project which is expected to be completed within 40 days.

The Manager, made this known today, during a stakeholders meeting on “the roles of Local Government and Local Government Review Community (LGRC) in the work of Kaduna State Community and Social Development Agency (KADCSDA)”.

He explained that under the project, benefiting communities will be giving the opportunity to select what they want.

The Manager said since it’s establishment, the agency only supported 28 communities which has now been expanded to 200 communities, adding that “just of recent, three of the delivery platforms which includes community and social development, has been providing livelihood support for 9,800 people that have received varied sums up to the ceiling of N1m.”

“His Excellency the Governor of Kaduna state, Senator has tasked this agency to carry out about 200 Micro Projects (MPs) as selected and prioritized by each benefitting community under the KAD-CARES (henceforth UBA SANI CARES) Program.

“The beneficiaries shall cut across the 23 Local Government Areas. To achieve this target, KADCSDA is collaborating with the Local Government Authorities through their desk officers i.e the Community Development Officers (CDOs) and a special committee at the LGA known as the Local Government Review Committee (LGRC).” Mukkadas stated.

While commending the stakeholders for their participation, Mukkadas, noted that the LG Chairmen are key to the implementation of the project and the success of the Governor Uba Sani’s government.

“Specifically, for WASH, we intend to drill hand pump boreholes, rehabilitates some. For health facilities in communities, we will renovate a number of them that requires rehabilitation and for education, we will renovate some schools and also provide learning materials as well as furnitures to schools.” He said.

The Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), who was represented by the Chairman, Markafi LG, Kabiru Muazu, who assured the agency of the LGA’s supported, noted that the intervention will be of great benefit to the people at the LG level.

“We assured the agency of our full support and we will do whatever it takes, whether material or finance, we are going to do it to make this very noble and important project to succeed.” He said.

KADCSDA, is currently focusing on service delivery to rural and urban-poor communities in the areas of Education, Health, Water, Sanitation and Nutrition under Kaduna State Covid 19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KAD- CARES) Program. It is a Programme for Result (P4R) under the World Bank/KDSG cooperation.

The agency’s thrust is to improve access to services for Human Capital Development (HCD) through improved and sustained social and infrastructural services.
