*As Maxwell Kyon Foundation holds seminar in Kaduna
*Nigeria a country where people break laws, get away with it – Gloria Ballason

For human rights violations to end in Kaduna State in particular and Nigeria at large, there must be complete independence of the judicial arm of government.
Several speakers emphasized this at a one day seminar organised by Maxwell Kyon Foundation on Human Rights and Justice Advocacy, on Thursday May 24, 2024 at the Kaduna State High Court Conference Hall
The seminar, titled, “THE CHALLENGES OF PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS IN KADUNA STATE: THE CASES OF KIDNAPPING WITHIN KADUNA METROPOLIS” saw participants drawn from key stakeholders.
Submissions at the seminar, also pointed to the need to have an independent body, separate from the executive in the appointment of judges.
In her presentation as the First Speaker, Gloria Ballason explained that justice is a spiritual concept .
She lamented that, “Nigeria a country where people break laws, get away with it.”
The second speaker, a human rights activist and social crusader, Comrade Audu Bako, took participants on a trip memory lane on how human rights abuses affect the victims.
He tasked all to make it a point of duty to always protect the constitutional rights of others.
The Maxwell Kyon Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to promoting human rights, justice, and equality for all located in Kaduna.
The foundation which aims to discuss the critical issue of protecting human rights in Kaduna State, particularly the right to life in the face of series of incidents that seem to undermine the security of the state including the spate of kidnappings around certain parts of the state.
As part of our efforts to create awareness and foster dialogue, they organized the seminar to bring together key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, legal experts, and concerned citizens.
Chairman of the foundation, Maxwell Kyon in the invitation sent out to participants, said, “We believe that your presence would be invaluable in addressing the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and protection of rights.”
