UN Dep Secretary General Holds Strategic Meeting With Northern Govs In Washington

Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Hajiya Amina Mohammed has held a strategic meeting with some Northern Governors in Washington, the United States of America (USA).

The Northern Governors include that of Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, Niger, Zamfara, Plateau and Benue, who are presently in the United States of America, led by the Chairman of the North West Governors Forum and Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda.

They attended a strategic meeting hosted by the acting Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Uzoma Emenike.

 “The meeting, which included a high-powered delegation from the United Nations led by the U.N. Deputy Secretary General, Her Excellency Hajiya Amina Mohammed, was held at the Nigeria Embassy in Washington, D.C.”

The focus of the meeting according to the Chief Press Secretary to Katsina state Governor, Mohammed Kaula was to “foster partnership and deepen collaboration in critical sectors, promote socioeconomic development, and effectively address regional challenges through connectivity, ICT, Energy, Food Security, Education, Climate Change, and Financing, among other things.

“Other members of her team include:- Mr Gatete, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Ms Damilola of Sustainable Energy for All, Ms Ahunna, the UNDP Regional Director for Africa, Ms Laura Jocelyn, Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Mr Samaila Zubairu, President of the Africa Finance Corporation,” the statement said.
