Governor Inuwa Appoints Ibrahim Isa  DG Gombe State Media Corporation


*Elevates Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo from SSA to Special Adviser on Development Partners Coordination

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Isa of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as the Director-General of the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC).

This was made known in a statement signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs)

Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, issued on Monday February 12, 2024.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the Governor’s approval, said Ibrahim Isa’s appointment, which takes immediate  effect, was based on his outstanding personal qualities and extensive experience in the field.

Isa brings over two decades of journalism expertise to his new role, having excelled as a reporter, producer, newsreader, TV host and media manager. With his track record, Ibrahim Isa is expected to bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the Gombe State Media Corporation to foster a dynamic and vibrant media environment. 

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that Ibrahim Isa’s leadership will contribute to GMC’s growth and its ability to serve the public better with accurate and timely information.

Also, Governor Inuwa Yahaya has approved, with immediate effect, the elevation of Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo Mohammed from the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Development Partners Coordination to Special Adviser on the same portfolio.

The decision, conveyed by the SSG, was grounded in Dr. Mohammed’s outstanding achievements, exceptional commitment and effectiveness demonstrated within the short period since he was first appointed SSA.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that his elevation to the position of Special Adviser will further enhance the state’s parnership drive and bolster its efforts in attracting resources and support from various development entities to contribute to the

overall progress and well-being of Gombe State.
