Police, NSCDC Collaboration Needed To Combat Illegal Mining Activities In Oyo – State Commandant

Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Augustine Padonu has said that there is the need for the collaboration of the Police and the NSCDC in combating illegal mining activities in the state.
Commandant Padona said this on Tuesday, during his visit to the headquarters of the Oyo State Police Command headquarters, Eleyele in Ibadan .
He stressed that Illegal mining poses a threat to the environment and security, hence the need for the joint efforts of the NSCDC and the Police to effectively address this challenge.
The NSCDC commandant lauded
the strong bond and collaboration currently existing between the NSCDC and the Police in Oyo State.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace and security, Commandant Padona expressed appreciation for the joint efforts of the security chiefs in the state,
The NSCDC Commandant while soliciting support of the Police in enhancing the knowledge and skills of NSCDC personnel highlighted the need for assistance from the Commissioner of Police in the area of training considering the significance of continuous professional development.
Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat expressed appreciation for the synergy among security agencies in Oyo state, saying “I have not seen such collaboration elsewhere.”
CP Hamzat emphasized the importance of fostering a harmonious working relationship, emphasizing that there should be no inferiority or superiority complexes among the security agencies.
The Commissioner of Police assured the NSCDC Commandant of his commitment to assist in the area of training, saying training programs can serve as platforms to unite and bring officers of lower ranks together from both the NSCDC and the Police.
CP Hamzat also proposed sport as another means of fostering collaboration and synergy among the lower ranks of the security agencies.
