Christians across the country have been charged to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace and patience which are the attributes and practice of Jesus Christ as exemplified by his ministry on the earth.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke gave the charge during the Easter Cantata for the 2023/2024 academic section organized by the University Band in conjunction with Performing Arts Department ( music unit).
Prof. Chiemeke, who was represented by her deputy, Prof Patricia Mbah, stated that the Easter Cantata was packaged to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus, celebrate his victory at the cross and hope of salvation.
” As we are gathered today for this Easter program,let us reflect on the blessings in our lives,may we realize afresh today,what His death and resurrection mean for us.”
While thanking staff and students for their continued support and loyalty to the system, the Vice Chancellor urged them to remain diligent, humble, responsible,holy, gentle, and prayerful.
On his part ,the Registrar of the institution, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi underscored the significance of the Easter Cantata and noted that the occasion was a version of the Christmas Carol,a festival of sacrifice meant to give praises to God.
He enjoined Christians, especially the staff of UNIDEL, to celebrate with humility, have sober reflection, and assertain their relationship with God.
The first Bible reading/synopsis on Easter was taken by Prof Patricia Mbah, while Barrister Richmond Omagbemi took the second reading.
The colorful event, which took place at the 1,000 Capacity Hall, also featured the presentation of Easter Cantata Songs/ instrumentals, congregational songs, and individual presentations.
Some notable dignitaries at the event were the University Librarian Dr Mrs Vera Okonoko,the Deans of Education,Prof. Arisi Regina, Arts, Dr. Mrs. Caroline Ohen and Students Advisory Services, comrade Nwabukwu Azani .
