Shehu Of Borno Calls For Prayers, Peace, Unity


*Organizes Durbar to mark Eid Fitri Sallah Festival

*Commends FG support to the state, Zulum’s leadership

The Shehu of Borno, His Eminence,  Alhaji Abubakar  Umar  Ibn Garbai El Kanemi has appealed to the  people to intensify  prayers for peace, unity and stability  of the country  against  lingering security challenges bedeviling  the  state, region and country at large.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their continuous support and assistance to Borno State people and government to bring succour to the citizens, despite the challenges.

The royal father  who expressed this on his Eid Fitr Sallah festival address to the people immediately after the two congregation prayer and durbar at his palace on Wednesday, further appreciated and commended the untiring efforts and good leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum,  while thanking them for making Borno proud through its challenges.

He assured that all the traditional councils across the state will be mobilized to impress on their people to join other Nigerians in prayers for peace, unity and stability of the state and country at large while praying God to accept our worships and Ramadan Fast as well forgive our shortcomings.

Shehu of Borno  also commended  the efforts and sacrifices of security agents  in the state, including the vigilante CJTF and hunters in the  fight against the  insurgents which informed  the peaceful celebration of the Eid el Fitr Sallah festival  across the state.

Earlier, the  Imam Idaini, Sheikh Shettima  Mamman Shettima’ Sale led the Wednesday  first day of Shawwal l 1445 AH Eid Fitri sallah two rakats congregational prayer at the Ramat Square Maiduguri, marking the end of the 30 days  or one  Month Ramadan Fast.

In his sermon immediately after the prayer, he urged Muslims to continue to be prayerful and observe the six days of Shawwal  popularly known as, Shitta Shawwal, while calling on people to continue to pray in the subsequent months as it was done during the   Ramadan fast.

Imam Idaini further appealed to  wealthy individuals and organizations to continue to support and assist the poor and less privileged in the society by way of  alleviating their poverty and creating job opportunities for the unemployed to make them self reliant as government alone cannot provide everything to everybody.
