Lagos NSCDC Boss Keshinro Reiterates Importance  Of Traditional Institutions, Seeks Support On Intelligence Gathering

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) Lagos Command Adetotun Keshinro has emphasised the strategic importance of traditional institutions in gathering credible and actionable intelligence and ensuring adequate safety and security of lives and property in the state.

Keshinro made the remark during courtesy visits to His Royal Majesties (HRMs ) the Alayeluwa Oba Dr Olusesan Olukunmi Akingbola, Olu of Oregun Land, on Tuesday, 13th and Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa, Awise of Onigbongbo Kingdom on Wednesday February 14, 2024.

The Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun made the disclosure in a statement obtained by our correspondent.

According to the statement, the  Commandant, who appreciated traditional rulers in the state for their unwavering support to the formations of the Command in their various  kingdoms, requested for much more support in the areas of intelligence gathering, structural outlook of the command and many more, which will inform quality delivery of security services in line with the Corps’ mandates amongst other things.

The Olu of Oregun Land, Alayeluwa Oba Dr Olusesan Olukunmi Akingbola commended the Lagos State Commandant for his competence and acknowledged that he was the first amongst his contemporaries in the Corps to have visited his palace and discuss security matters, which he believed have the impetus to put an end to the current and already foreseen challenges bedeviling our dear state.

In his comment, HRM Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa, Awise of Onigbongbo Kingdom also commended the State Commandant’s efforts towards partnering with traditional institutions and viewing the royal stools as one of the crucial platforms to engage if truly, we wanted to put an end to all forms of heinous and intolerable crimes bedeviling our communities, state and nation at large. 

He assured the Lagos State Commandant of his full and unwavering support due to the very crucial role the Corps has been playing in safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, which are the life wire of the socio – economic sector of the state.

The NSCDC Commandant further seized the opportunity as well to avow his unflinching assurances to ensure adequate safety and security under the present dispensation, with a stern commitment to interagency collaboration and community or grassroot intelligence driven strategies and stakeholders’ engagements amidst other possible and workable solutions.
