Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, has alleged that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent actions against him stemmed from fear.
Ubah, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) told reporters on Monday January 29, in Nnewi, that since declaring his intention to vie for the 2025 governorship election, Soludo has persistently targeted him.
However, he pledged that he would do only four years if given the opportunity by the people of Anambra, while advising Soludo to concentrate and give the people the good governance he promised them instead of being afraid of his shadows.
Explaining the rationale behind a single term, Ubah emphasized the commitment to honour the rotational arrangement established by a gentleman’s agreement, ensuring equitable representation for the Anambra South Senatorial District.
This arrangement has governed the zoning and rotation of the state’s governorship position since 2014.
Soludo, is also, from Anambra South Senatorial District and is in the second year of his first tenure in office.
Ubah said he would not only do one term of four years, but also conduct local government elections in the state within four months if allowed to serve Ndi Anambra.
He said four years are enough for any focused governor of a state to do great things and change the lives of his people positively.
Describing the development in the state as very slow, Ubah said 80 per cent of his blueprints or ideas for the development of the state are innovative and beyond the capacity of his opponents.
He said if voted governor, Anambra state would be both the commercial and health hob in the Southeast and Nigeria in general.
He expressed disappointment with the way the incumbent governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, was disrespecting the traditional institution in the state
He said the governor’s action was petty and unfortunate, adding that he would do much better in the classroom than in government.
Ubah said: “Everybody has his or her calling. Some are in the classroom, others in business and vice versa. The Governor is not good at what he is doing now, we have to tell ourselves the truth.
“My plans for the development of Anambra State are huge. As a private person and politician, I have done great in the transformation of the lives of many people.
“I have equally done it both in sports, education, commerce, employment and in overall youth and women empowerment. I have the capacity to make the people of my state happy again and I am ready too.”
