Depot Nigerian Army (NA) has  frowned at a recent  publication by certain online media outlets  against the leadership of Depot NA Army, which it described as false.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations Depot Nigerian Army, Captain Kele

Babale, which said, the online news agency alleged that the Commandant of Depot NA prioritizes the welfare of cattle over that of its soldiers, insinuating a lack of concern for the wellbeing of its personnel.

“Regrettably, such unbalanced and misleading news has been disseminated, reflecting the ill-intent of these online media sources to demoralize our recruits and soldiers through spurious and baseless claims,” it said.

The statement categorically refuted what it described  as baseless claims and sought to provide clarity on the matter.

He said contrary to the false report, Depot NA is a revered training institution responsible for transforming civilians into professional soldiers.

According to him, at present, the institution is conducting training for recruits, however,  the prevailing economic challenges and surge in commodity prices have necessitated the stocking of food supplies and livestock to sustain the nutritional needs of the recruits.

He said it is imperative to emphasize that Depot NA not only recognizes the importance of maintaining the standard of nutrition for its recruits, but also understands the positive impact on their performance and overall morale during training.

“Accordingly, the provision of food and care for the livestock is meticulously managed to ensure a balanced diet for our recruits, while also extending similar considerations to our trainers through the Barracks Investment and Initiative programme.

“This initiative facilitates affordable livestock and irrigation farming within designated areas of the cantonment to benefit our personnel”.

The statement urged the public to disregard any misinformation regarding the feeding and welfare of recruits and soldiers as it is a calculated effort by mischief makers to cause distraction and disharmony within Depot NA.

“The unfounded report is a gross misrepresentation and seeks to undermine the positive initiatives and plans put in place for the personnel of Depot NA”.

“We wish to reaffirm that the Commandant is wholly committed to the welfare of both trainees and trainers at the institution”.

“We want to assure the public of our unwavering dedication to the well-being and development of all individuals associated with Depot NA”.
