Five suspected hoodlums are now in Police net in Oyo State for allegedly setting ablaze a Police Patrol Van and vandalizing  some parts of the building housing  the Elete out station on new Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway

The state Police command in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso for the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat disclosed that the

five male suspects were arrested alongside two  unregistered DAF and Volvo trucks taken as exhibits.

According to the command “no weapon was carted away nor any  life lost” during the attack on the Police out station by the suspected hoodlums on Saturday.

Oyo Police command noted that during the attack, the hoodlums were resisted from breaking into the Out-station by overwhelming support garnered from men on confidence building patrols from nearby Police Divisions, including the Area Command.

” Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspected hoodlums after realizing they had been held up in the gridlock for a while, charged in their numbers towards the nearby Elete Out-Station over the perceived failure of the Police to rid the traffic, completely setting ablaze the Out-Station’s recently refurbished Patrol Van and vandalizing some parts of the building”, it said.

Vowing to resist any kind of dehumanization on its personnel or attack on its facilities by sinister-minded individuals or groups, the command said  the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku to unravel other underlying sinister motives besides the suspect’s acclaimed “triggering gridlock issue” .

It pointed out that the “suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of the ongoing investigation inquiry”.
