As the people of Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State join brethren the world over to celebrate Easter, Rt. Hon. Etetim Onuk has stressed the need of the people to live a life that reflect the essence that Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary.
Onuk, who is the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council, stated this in his Easter message to the council area on Friday.
He noted that Easter signifies the death, crucifixion, burial, and the triumphant resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“In this significant season, let us think about the unconditional love that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, had for us, that He gave His life for our sins to bring salvation to mankind.
“I urge us to reflect on His sacrificial love and to learn of what we can achieve by faith in our belief in the sacrifice, the benefits it has brought to mankind generally and individually.
“Let us all therefore take advantage of the season to make the ideals of peace, harmony, tolerance, loves, and goodwill to all, even more manifest in our interactions with one another.” He stated.
While expressing thankfulness to God to mankind, through the son, Jesus Christ, Onuk prayed that the season birthed in the people, “the lessons of self-sacrifice, brotherly love, tolerance, obedience, respect for constituted authorities, honesty, justices, and fairness to allow. It will help us to build more peaceful, secure, united, progressive and prosperous Itu LGA.”
The Council Boss also pledged to bring development to Itu by implementing the ARISE Agenda of the state government.
“With God Almighty as our guide, strength and facilitator, this administration will continue to implement the ARISE agenda of Pastor Umo Eno led administration in the state.
“As a local government, we shall continue to partner with the state government in furtherance of her avowed commitment to improve the living conditions of all Akwa Ibom people.” He assured.
“I shall continue to count on your prayers, support and cooperation to the build Itu Local Government Area of our dream.” The Council Boss added.
