Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State for the sake of the holy month of Ramadan and upcoming Sallah festivities has paid fines for two hundred and twenty – two (222) Inmates who were detained across various correctional facilities due to their in ability to pay fines imposed on them by different courts of law in the state.
A statement by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Fadila Muhammad Dikko said Governor Dikko Radda’s initiative was aimed to decongest the custodial centers and allow the inmates to celebrate Sallah with their families.
Fadila Muhammad who expressed her sincere gratitude to Governor Radda, acknowledged the significance of the gesture in providing relief to those incarcerated for minor commercial and non-capital offenses.
“The selection process for the beneficiaries involved thorough verification and recommendations to the state for intervention in paying the fines holding them in correctional facilities,” Fadila Muhammad Dikko emphasized.
She explained that, ” the Governor’s benevolent act is expected to significantly reduce congestion in these facilities and enable the freed inmates to partake in the joyous occasion of Sallah with their loved ones.”
Fadila Muhammad Dikko reiterated that, “the Katsina State Government’s commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the well-being of its citizens underscores Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s dedication to fostering compassion and inclusivity in governance.”
