Communities in Southern Kaduna have been enjoined to unite with security agencies in the area towards the fight against insecurity.
The people have also been urged to address the detrimental impact of illicit drugs and devise comphrensive strategies to mitigate its effects among the citizenry.
The Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, in partnership with the AMAYA Peace Foundation, orchestrated a pivotal event in Southern Kaduna, emphasized the critical importance of synergy between community members and security agencies on the urgency of addressing the pervasive issue of drug abuse to ensure peaceful coexistence in the area.
The Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, urged participants to confront the issue of drug addiction with empathy and compassion, drawing upon personal anecdotes the drugs has on individual’ wellbeing.
He underscored the imperative for a paradigm shift in societal attitudes towards individuals grappling with addiction and emphasized the need to love and support in facilitating the rehabilitation and reintegration of those affected by substance abuse.
He emphasized the need for holistic approache to address the root causes of addiction, advocating for enhanced support services, community outreach initiatives, and rehabilitative programs, by ensuring renewed commitment to combatting drug abuse and fostering a culture of compassion and understanding within the people of Southern Kaduna.
Sheikh Halliru Maraya, the Northern Coordinator of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, advocated for the concept of “One Family Under God,” stressing that the inherent unity among all humanity irrespective of diverse backgrounds.
He noted the devastating repercussions of illicit drug use, emphasizing the adverse effects on mental health and societal stability.
Maraya pleaded for collective approach by all in ensuring a renewed commitment to combatting drug abuse and promoting a culture of peace and understanding among the people of Southern Kaduna.
Participants, throughout the event, engaged in discussions and proposed pragmatic solutions to address the complex challenges posed by drug abuse and stressed the need for community outreach initiatives to enhanced support services and rehabilitative programs in the area.
