Member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams has appealed to his constituents and Nigerians to be patient with the current economic hardship ravaging the nation.
Ekene made the appeal while addressing his constituents in Kaduna yesterday, where he said himself alongside other lawmakers understand the plight of the people and are doing everything humanly possible to ease the situation.
Lamenting the number of phone calls and texts messages he receives on daily basis from vulnerable Nigerians for assistance, Ekene expressed that the burden is too much for him to bear on personal project, explaining that he is yet to receive constituency budget project for the year 2024.
Ekene who is also the House Committee Chairman on Sports, House of Representatives, added that he feels the pain of the people and will continue to reach out to whatever need that he is capable of handling pending when the situation gets better.
“Without doubt, there is hunger in the land. I feel your pain deep in my heart seeing your calls and text messages to ask me for alms with tears that the country is hard. Some of you complained that you are looking for what to eat, while some are looking for means to take their loved ones to hospital for medical care.
“I feel the pains but the truth is I cannot help the situation because it is not that easy. We only work on constituency projects which have their budget and these budgets are timely. We are yet to receive this budget for the year 2024.
“Please do understand that I and many more members are doing everything possible to reach out to the people, soon. I agree that there is hunger in the land and the situation is very pathetic. God will take control.” He stressed.
He said that thousands of constituents have benefitted from his empowerment programmes, saying that he remains committed to impacting the lives of people in the constituency for self reliance.
